WHAT TRAINING DO I NEED?
You need to complete Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) to ride a 50cc moped or up to a 125cc motorcycle on the road. CBTs cost £130 and this includes EVERYTHING you need from the bike hire and safety gear except boots to an additional days training FREE OF CHARGE if required. There are NO hidden extras with Pro Bike Irvine - we simply don't believe in it. Do check whats included in the price you pay when you are shopping around different training schools.
You may wish to sit your motorcycle test. Passing this test will allow you to ride without Learner (L)plates on the road.
There are three different categories of machine you can use for your motorcycle test and depending on what you choose may restrict the machine you can legally ride on:

category A1 (light motorcycle) - a solo motorcycle between 75 and 125 cc, with a power output not exceeding 11 kilowatts - passing your test on a machine in this category will enable you to ride machines up to 125 cc as a full licence holder

category A2 (standard motorcycle) - a solo motorcycle , of 245cc and 20 kilowatts- passing your test on a machine in this category will enable you to ride machines with a power output not exceeding 35 kilowatts (47 brake horse power) as a full licence holder for a period of two years; after the two year or when you turn 24 you may resit the test on a full power machine

category A (unrestricted) – a solo motorcycle with a power output of at least 50 kilowatts and 595cc passing your test on a machine in this category under the Direct Access Scheme or Progressive Access Scheme will enable you to ride a motorcycle of any engine size and power output you need to be at least 24 years old
You must use the same category of machine for both parts of the practical motorcycle test.
